This PhD project is a collaboration between De Waag (center for outpatient forensic mental health care) and Brain & Cognition section of the department of Psychology and an external PhD student employed at De Waag .
The project aims to provide and answer to the following questions:
A) Measurement: How can (social) cognitive functions be measured? Which tests/tasks are best suitable for forensic patients? And what are the psychometric properties of these tests?
B:) Cognitive dysfunctions: What cognitive dysfunctions are common among forensic outpatients? Can we distinguish neuropsychological profiles within this group? And how are these dysfunctions related to criminal behavior and recidivism?
C) Responsivity and treatment: (How) can we improve cognitive dysfunctions in treatment? And what factors should we pay attention to in terms of responsiveness and risk in clients with cognitive failure?
After finalizing part A with a published Delphi Consensus Study and Meta-analysis, the project is currently focused on part B, for which a pre-print can be found here.
